Purpose Programs extend ESP’s mission beyond our campuses and into everyday life and a National audience. These initiatives create sustainable impact by opening doors to meaningful employment, sparking conversation in the real world, and inviting people to engage with purpose in tangible, repeatable ways.
They are not side projects. They are expressions of belief—built to activate ability, create opportunity, and change how communities see people of all abilities.

What is Java Joy?
Java Joy
“87% of adults with disabilities who can and want to work are unemployed.”
That statistic is not abstract. It represents talent overlooked, contribution delayed, and dignity denied. Java Joy exists to change that reality—one relationship, one conversation, one cup of coffee, and one hug at a time.
A program of ESP, Java Joy was created in 2016 to provide meaningful employment for adults with disabilities while offering communities one-of-a-kind opportunities for engagement. It is an employment pathway built on real work, real responsibility, and real connection—wrapped in joyful hospitality.
Java Joy exists to create experiences of unmatched joy through moments of engagement with people of all abilities. When Java Joy shows up—at a business, a school, a nonprofit, or a community event—something shifts. Expectations are reset. Walls come down. People connect.
Meet the Joyristas
Joyrista = Joy + Barista
Joyristas are the heart and soul of Java Joy. They brew the coffee, serve the drinks, give the hugs, and spread the joy—but more than that, they transform the experience for everyone involved.
A Joyrista® is an individual of all abilities who is both being served by Java Joy’s mission and actively shaping the world around them with their unique perspective. They are developing workplace confidence, practicing professionalism, and building relationships—while reminding every guest what joy looks like when it’s shared freely.
Once you’ve met a Joyrista, you understand why Java Joy isn’t just a coffee experience. It’s an unmatched exchange of joy.
SEEABILITY
SEEABILITY is a purpose-driven apparel and education initiative created by ESP to help the world see ability first.
Built on the belief that visibility shapes understanding, SEEABILITY meets people where they already are—at school, at work, and in everyday life—inviting communities to see others through a lens of dignity, confidence, and possibility. Every expression of SEEABILITY supports ESP’s mission to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families.
SEEABILITY shows up in two primary ways:
Apparel & Brand Partnerships offer modern wearable pieces designed to spark conversation and carry purpose into everyday life. Grounded in the belief that we imagine a world that sees people the way their dog sees them, SEEABILITY apparel is not charity merchandise—it’s a wearable expression of purpose.
Through selective brand partnerships, SEEABILITY collaborates with like-minded companies to extend the message through limited-edition collections, introducing new audiences to the mission while maintaining a high bar for quality, design, and authenticity.
Education Program for Schools: Through SEEABILITY for Schools, the initiative extends into elementary classrooms, helping build cultures of empathy, respect, and connection—supporting students in learning to recognize ability in themselves and others.
Together, these expressions allow SEEABILITY to move beyond awareness and into lived experience—on bodies, in schools, and across communities.
