What is your role a the Family Beach Trip?

As a Beach Buddy, you will host a esp Family during the day throughout the weekend to create a safe and welcoming beach trip experience at esp By The Sea. By offering support to the family during meals and activities each day, you’ll provide priceless joy, and lasting memories to our families.

Volunteer FAQs

 Laguna Beach Christian Retreat, Panama City Beach FL

Our 2026 dates are Thursday, April 23rd- Sunday, April 27th. With the option to add on Wednesday, April 22nd to your stay. 

We will kick off our programming Thursday night after everyone is checked in! Every morning there will be an optional church service. Each day is filled with optional beach and pool activities. Every evening will have a signature event. You as a family can choose what all you would like to be involved in.

You will stay at the Laguna Beach Christian Retreat and room with other Beach Buddies on the trip. 

We ask that each Beach Buddy aim to raise $250 to help offset the cost of your trip. Don’t worry — if you don’t reach the full amount, you’re still able to join us! Every bit of support makes a difference, and we’re grateful for any amount you’re able to raise.

Bethlehem Church will host an optional church service in the chapel on the property each morning after breakfast.

Volunteering at esp by the Sea was truly a pivotal moment for me. This trip allowed me to connect with families and siblings for the first time. I was paired with an amazing family and had so much fun swimming, playing in the sand, and hanging out with them! During the trip, I had the opportunity to be a part of their youngest daughter’s first birthday celebration! Being a part of esp By the Sea gave me the opportunity to immerse myself into the full mission of esp and I could not be more thankful!

I had the privilege of joining esp By the Sea with Wyants. Blakely was my very first buddy as a summer staffer, so getting to tag along with her family this week was so sweet. One highlight of the trip was getting to know her parents and her amazing sisters. Moments like these remind me why I love this work—the pure joy in discovery, the strength in connection, and the beauty of meeting each child and family right where they are.

esp by the sea was truly a life changing experience! Having the opportunity to spend time with participants, but also connect with their families for the weekend was so special. Attending the optional church service each morning and seeing so many participants excited to worship was the sweetest experience that brought so much joy. I loved watching everyone have so much fun all weekend long in such a positive environment! Serving our families at the beach meant so much to me, and I will cherish my first esp by the sea experience forever!
