About McKenzie Howsmon

Core value: Connecting the Unconnected – “This core value resonates the most with me because of how divided communities can be. Many people go their entire lives without any interaction with a person with a disability, and this directly influences their perspectives on communities of people with disabilities and fuels their preconceived ideas, which are usually negative. The purpose of connecting the unconnected is to bridge the gap between these communities, and to provide educational and transformative experiences and interactions between the two. For me, creating opportunities for communities to work with people with disabilities is an incredible honor.”

McKenzie is passionate about creating equitable and accessible opportunities for marginalized communities, whether it be in education, extracurriculars, or employment. She is driven by a deep passion for social justice. Outside of work, McKenzie enjoys live music and often finds concerts to attend!

Her ESP Why: “I always knew that, no matter what I did, I wanted to make a difference in my community. ESP is a place where, within my first week, I knew I was in the right place. Being able to be surrounded by a group of people who shares so much passion and JOY for serving people with disabilities and their families is something I greatly cherish. The entire staff and all of our participants are what makes ESP home!”
